Gold medallist to attend Charity Ball

Paralympic gold medallist James Roberts MBE will be the guest of honour at a Harvest Moon Charity Ball being hosted by McCartneys at The Elephant and Castle Hotel, Newtown, on September 24 for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

The event will include a three-course meal with live music provided by ‘Built 4 Comfort’, along with a charity auction.

Lingen Davies have been funding projects to improve Cancer services in Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales for nearly 40 years. They fundraise for equipment to support cancer treatment, and also raise awareness and even prevent cancer, encouraging people to seek treatment earlier, and support their patients and their families to live their lives well both during and after treatment.

Lingen Davies estimate 75,000 people have had their cancer treatment improved by their services, and that is why they are McCartneys Charity of the Year for 2022.

James, from Welshpool, was appointed an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in January, following an outstanding wheelchair rugby career that finished with gold at the Tokyo Paralympics last year.
