Shocking scenes from the centre of Welshpool have been captured on video showing armed police pointing their weapons at a car that has been stopped on Severn Street.
The alarming video was rapidly doing the rounds yesterday (Tuesday) and was thought to have been filmed on Monday night by a female who can be heard telling her growling dog to be quiet as she captures the armed officers yelling instructions to the car down below.
Local police have so far been unable to verify the video, or when it was shot, but a reliable source close to the police told us that one arrest was made.
The incident happened opposite the Magistrates Court, and appears to have been a co-ordinated stop, with the offending car sandwiched in by two police cars.
Two armed officers are pointing semi-automatic weapons at the vehicle as one slowly approaches it. Their shouts are inaudible and no-one can be seen exiting the stopped car in the 13-second clip.
One teenager who saw the video called it “shocking” and “something you don’t expect to see in town”.
We have asked Dyfed-Powys Police for more information which we will share as soon as it is available.
