Welshpool rail users are being fore-warned of mass disruption to the rail service with two weeks of bus replacements coming into play next month.
Network Rail is carrying our major works at and around Newtown station including track work that will need a complete closure of the line from May 5-May 22 when buses will replace services.
Work will be carried out 24 hours a day, and will then be followed until July 7 by more night work that will take place on weekdays from 10.45pm-6.15pm.
Work is underway, but is again happening overnight with services continuing as normal up until the complete closure in two weeks’ time.
“Buses will replace trains between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth from Saturday, May 6, to Sunday, May 21,” said Rebecca Harvey, Community Relations Manager for Network Rail. “If you are planning on travelling on these dates, please check before travelling at www.journeycheck.com/tfwrail/.”
Ms Harvey said that residents living up to a mile close to the track either side of Newtown station will face some noise disruption, but said workers will endeavour to “keep this to a minimum”.
Newtown Railway Station Car Park will be closed off from May 1.
