Welshpool man takes new head role

A Welshpool man has been appointed as the new Head Teacher of Churchstoke CP School.

Matt McWhinnie is an experienced educational leader and is currently Deputy Head of Llansantffraid School, but will start his new role in September 2023. 

Mr McWhinnie takes over from Ian Roberts (pictured on the right with Mr McWhinnie) who is retiring after 35 years of exceptional service with the school.

“Mr McWhinnie is passionate about providing students with the best possible learning environment, teaching and opportunities,” the school said in a statement: “The school has a dedicated community, provides a welcoming environment, where children are supported as individuals.

“All connections with the school past and present wish Mr Roberts a long and happy retirement.”
