Ysgol Llanfyllin has followed up its impressive A-level results with what the Headteacher described as “amazing” GCSE and BTEC results today.

A third of the year group (29 students) achieved five or more A* and A grades or equivalent. And there were also stand-out individual achievements with five students attaining all A* and A grades:

Matthew Benson – 13A* and 1 A

Alice Whitley – 12A* and 3 As

Rachel Howells – 12A* and 2 As

Ruby Evans – 9A* and 5 As

Katie James – 6A* and 8 As

“All of our students achieved at least five A* - G grades with 92.3% of them achieving at least five A*- C grades or equivalent – an amazing achievement by all,” said Dewi Owen, Headteacher.

“This group of students has shown amazing resilience as they had to cope with school closures, lockdowns and learning online during the early years of their school career.

“We are incredibly proud of their achievements and we would like to express our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all our students, families and staff members for their hard work, dedication and professionalism.

“These results not only reflect the excellent effort and attitude of the students but also the hard work and diligence shown by our highly committed staff, supported and encouraged by parents and governors.

“This strength in our working partnership bodes well for the future as so many of our pupils return in September to embark on Post 16 courses in the school’s outstanding Canolfan Chweched Sixth Form Centre.

“Congratulations to all – we are incredibly proud of you.”
