Flood warnings remain in place

Today’s rain has ensured that flood warnings remain in place for many of the problem points in the Welshpool area today.

Natural Resources Wales has kept the Lower Severn Catchment area covering the Welshpool and Llandrinio areas in their “flooding is possible” category along with the Vyrnwy Catchment area that covers the rivers Vyrnwy, River Tanat and River Cain, with Llansantffraid and Llanymynech of particular concern.

The road at Llandrinio is reportedly still closed this morning, while the Airport Road and the road past Sidoli’s have been reportedly passable, but with care. Both are liable to worsen though should the rain continue.

The area enjoyed a short respite on Sunday after a month’s worth of rain – nearly 60mm - fell in just 24 hours on Welshpool.

But with showers still anticipated in the coming days, we may not be out of troubled waters just yet.
