Head teacher announces retirement

Leighton Community Primary School will be looking for a new head teacher after Lyn Harte announced his retirement.

Mr Harte took to Facebook to inform parents of his intention to stand down at the end of the current school year, saying it was “a very difficult decision”.

“I’ve made the decision to retire from Leighton at the end of this current school year. A very difficult decision, and there’s so much I’ll miss, but I feel the time is right for me,” he said.

“Although I’ve a while here yet, I’d like to thank all parents, staff and Governors, past and present – you’ve been amazingly supportive throughout, even when times were very challenging, and you’ve all contributed towards the wonderful, happy and positive spirit that is so evident here.

“Most of all though, it’s been such a pleasure to have been able to spend so much time with all of the fantastic children who’ve been here – I’m really going to miss that!

Parents came out in praise for the popular head teacher in response to the post with one stating that her daughter will be “gutted” and another saying their son “adored you”.
