The ‘Kids Eat Free’ scheme launched by a group of three Welshpool eateries this summer served up an incredible 3,600 meals, it has been revealed.
The initiative was created by the Inglenook Café, The Nook Sandwich Bar and Andrews Fish Bar to ensure that on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays there was free food for kids in a wonderful community gesture that proved hugely popular.
The scheme ran for the entire summer holidays and, last night, the organisers declared: “Over the summer holidays across our three sites, we did over 3,600 free meals for kids!
“We would like to thank all of our staff over the last few weeks for their support and for working so hard!
“We also received donations of £520 which has been donated to The Feathers Association Youth Club, so they can put it towards a day out!”
