Breakthrough in burglary case

16/11/2011 @ 03:38

Police have made a breakthrough into the spate of burglaries and thefts that have taken place in a rural area north of Welshpool.

The 24-year old man has not been named by police, but he will appear before Brecon Magistrates tomorrow (Thursday) charged with eight offences including five house burglaries. There will be a request to remand him in custody.

Police say he has “connections to the area” and bail was refused ahead of his court appearance. The precise location of the thefts and break-ins has not been revealed at this time by police at the wishes of victims, but are believed to have centred on one village or community.

Detective Inspector Diane Davies said: “We are committed to providing an effective service to all our communities. These type of offences have a really significant impact on the victims and it is only right and proper that we do all we can to bring offenders to Justice.”
