Welshpool’s Mad Friday usually enjoys a spicy mix of sex, drunks and sausage rolls but tonight’s has also sampled a touch of celebrity.
The pubs have reported a roaring trade on the last working day before Christmas which is normally the busiest night of the year for emergency services too.
And while spirits have generally been good, one of television’s most recognisable characters went down a storm with revellers who couldn’t believe their eyes.

Deon Stewardson, 60, is best known as Anders Du Plessis in the ITV hit series Wild at Heart but is out tonight in Welshpool and mixing happily with drinkers and posing for photographs (left).
One woman who contacted mywelshpool said: “I couldn’t believe it was him! He was getting well moithered but to be fair he was posing for pictures and was really nice.”
It is not known why Mr Stewardson (pictured above in character) is in Welshpool tonight but one thing is for sure, he certainly won’t forget his visit!

But he is not the first celebrity to sample Welshpool's nightlife. Earlier this year, comedian John Bishop joined drinkers watching a Liverpool game on TV at The Angel after his car ran out of petrol and several years ago, acclaimed actor David Morrisey (right) signed autographs in the Royal Oak bar during a break from filming a period drama close to Welshpool.
