Monday and Tuesday sales

Messrs Morris Marshall & Poole and Norman Lloyd & Co report on the Store Cattle Auction held today (Tuesday).

Welshpool Livestock Sales are delighted to report on excellent trade on the 1072 store cattle forward for their March Fair. With buyers from across the country, trade was even throughout with the best cattle very much in demand. With the bigger bunches selling to a premium.
Steers averaged 219.16ppkg, Heifers 205.41ppkg.

Welshpool Livestock Sales report on a highly successful auction at Buttington Cross Welshpool on Monday.
 
OTMS (32)
An entry of 32 over thirty month cattle sold to a very good average of 137ppkg for the cows, 138ppkg for the bulls,139ppkg for the under 72 month old heifers and 150ppkg for the young steers. R D Thomas Neuaddlwyd sold an older cow weighing 755kg to a top price of £1087.20. J T Lewis & Co Dolfor Hall sold a Limousin cow weighing 750kg to £1080.00. An under 72 month old cow from G E Davies & Son Cwmbromley sold for £1254.54. R D Thomas & Son Neuaddlwyd receives the Briarwood Products Ltd for the highest price older cow sold on the day. Weekly sale of Over Thirty Month older cattle at 9am prompt every Monday. We will be holding a section for TB Tested animals. This will take place in ring 2 and will commence at 9am. FAT CATTLE (7)
A reduced entry of only seven fat cattle presented for sale today, selling to a average 209ppkg for the steers and 202ppkg for the heifers. G Bound & Son Cefn Bach sold three Limousin heifers to 234ppkg, 225ppkg and 224ppkg. C J Davies & Son Waengwyn sold two Limousin steers to 216ppkg and 202ppkg.
G Bound & Son Cefn Bach receives the Brairwood Products Ltd prize of £25 for the highest price beast sold on the day. Weekly sale of Fat cattle every Monday at approximately 12.30pm. The Spring Lamb Show and Sale took place at Welshpool on Monday 2nd April 2012. CULL EWE (1490)
 An entry of 1490 cull ewes selling to a fantastic average of £79.54 per head for the ewes and £94.72 per head for the cull rams. Ewes topped at £138 per head from E L Evans & Co The Green Farm and Morgan & Jones Ltd Morfa sold ewes to £132per head. Cull rams topped at £131 per head from G J E Hughes & Son Old House. Weekly sale of Cull ewes to immediately follow the sale of fat hoggetts, at approximately 12 noon.
 
STORE LAMBS & IN LAMB EWES
100 store lambs forward met a generally slower trade as the finishing time reduces. Best trade were on better finished sorts. Top price of £56 from S M Davies Tanrhiwen.
Couples. 170 ewes, a slightly larger entry and again some exceptional prices. Good quality younger ewes and even well fleshed strong older ewes with twin lambs regularly hit £180 with best sorts £200 plus. Top price were £216 for Suffolk yearlings and twins from CC & SM Edwards Freehold Farm at £212. D M Jones Rhydairy Cottage for Texelx three year old and twins also £202. £205 from Bronhyddan Farms for aged ewes with twins and £201 for Lleyn four year old ewes with twins from R L Roberts & M D Sqiures. Even hill aged ewes met a sharp demand with as found Beulah and singles selling to £117 from J B C Gwillim.
Cade Lambs: 63 lambs averaged £21.50 selling to a top of £48 from W Jones Glascoed.
 
COWS & CALVES
Only two cows and calves presented for sale from B G Jones Gethin Waen. Two Limousin 2004 born cows with Limousin heifer calves at foot sold for £1320 and £1300. Entries Invited for the Next sale of Cows and Calves will take place on Monday 16th April.
