OTMS (56)
An entry of 56 Over Thirty Month Cattle sold to a very good average of 139ppkg for the older cows, 144ppkg for the bulls and 187ppkg for the younger heifers. An entry of 51 older cows sold to a top price of £1352.40 for a British Blue cow weighing 735kg from B L Griffiths Lower Penygelli. A Limousin cow weighing 766kg achieved £1179.52 from P L Harrison Neuaddlwyd. A under 72 month old British Blue cow weighing 756kg made £1391.04 from G E Davies & Son Cwmbromley.
On Wednesday the 13th June we held a Red Market for T B Restricted cattle. K Howells The Ddol sold six friesian cows to a very good average of £935.97 per head and topping at £1237.74. G Daulby Rhos Farm sold two Friesian bulls to £983.40 and £997.52 and a Barren Friesian Cow to £874.72 per head.

FAT CATTLE (7)
Only seven cattle presented today, selling to an average of 193ppkg for the steers and 204ppkg for the heifers. Heifers topped at 217ppkg for a Limousin Heifer weighing 469kg from E Watkin Tybrith. E Watkin also sold another heifer to 206ppkg. S F Jones Malgwyn Llanidloes sold three steers to 196ppkg, 194ppkg and 189ppkg. Weekly sale of Fat cattle every Monday at approximately 12.30pm. CULL EWE (2772)
An entry of 2772 cull sheep on offer for sale today, sold to average £60.51 for the ewes and £84.91 for the rams. Top price of the day for the ewes was £129 per head from C E Pryce Yr Helyg. Top price for the cull rams was £150 per head from T W G Davies Penygraig. Weekly sale of cull sheep to immediately follow the sale of fat lambs and hoggets at approximately 12noon.
STORE LAMBS & IN LAMB EWES
A strong entry of 145 hoggs and lambs entering the market this week, selling to a top of £186 for a mule hogg with twin lambs at foot from J V Davies & Co Garth Fawr. Texelx hoggs with single lambs at foot sold to £168 from F Bailey Pensarn while single lambs at foot from T M Davies Wynnstay Farm realised £182. More Hoggs and Lambs to be sold at the usual time of 10.30am next Monday 25th June 2012.
COWS & CALVES
An entry of 30 cows and calves met with a similar trade to last week, being a bit less than in mid May. D P Evans Moelygarth sold six Limousinx 1st Calves with Limousin calves at foot to a top of £1980 to average £1850. Presented by Price and Price Cwmearl was a Limousinx 1st calver with a Limousin Bull Calf which sold for £1950. From the same home was a Limousinx 1st Calver with a heifer calf and a British Bluex 1st calver with a heifer calf which made £1720 and £1660 respectively. From L & PA Morris & Sons Mount Farm was a Limousinx 2nd calver with a Limousin bull calf which sold for £1820. J R Phillips & Son sold a 2005 born cow with a Limousin heifer calf for £1650. A T Edwards Glanaber Llangadfan sold six Limousinx cows 3rd calvers with Limousinx calves at foot to a top price of £1750 to average £1523. B L Griffiths Lower Penygelli sold a Limousinx 4th Calver with a British Bluex heifer calf for £1850. A breakdown of all the prices achieved where as follows: £1800 - £2000 7 lots, £1600 - £1800 7 lots, £1400 - £1600 8 lots, £1200 - £1400 4 lots, less than £1200 2 lots.
DAIRY COWS
A much improved entry of 11 dairy cattle met with a grand trade comparable with other market with plenty of buyers looking to source milkers. Top price of the day was a 3rd calvers from AS & EM Goolden Cilbach which was sired by Picston Shaker sold for £1980. R G P Roberts Pentre David Hengoed presented four heifers, 2 sired by Moet Brinstar Sircius and 2 by lakemead Rander giving 27 – 28 litres per day sold from £1700 to £1910 to average £1792.50. K S Jones & Sons Lane Farm sold a heifer and a 2nd Calver sired by Dragon and Winston Stormatic for £1920 and £1910 respectively. Two heifers from GM & U Thomas Bwlchgraig sold for £1690 a piece. A Roylane Jordan daughter from WA & EM Morris Maestanyglwyden made £1680. A breakdown of the prices achieved where as follows: £1900 + 4 lots, £1700 - £1900 3 lots, £1500 - £1700 4 lots.

An entry of 80 store cattle met with an even trade throughout, with more customers for all types of cattle. The strongest cattle were in greatest demand with many farmers looking for suckler production.
