Welshpool’s biggest annual charity day will donate its proceeds to a number of local causes.
Formerly known as the Help for Heroes Day, the charity day has become a huge hit since its launch and last year thousands of pounds were raised from a great family day out.
The event is organised by Harry Gannon and Paul Rogers along with the Montgomeryshire branch of the Parachute Regiment and will be held on June 30 at Maesydre with local sporting starlet, Adele Nicoll, officially opening the event with the Town Mayor.
Other charities set to benefit include Montgomeryshire Emergency Doctors, Sally Shining Star (a local cystic fibrosis fund), The Stroke Club, The Breathing Club, St John’s Ambulance and Healing The Wounds, a new organisation supporting soldiers.
“We are hoping to beat last year’s record takings of £8,000,” said Nicky Davies, one of the organisers. Tickets are selling well and we have had wonderful support from local performers who will entertain on the day.”
Entertainment includes a hog roast, bar, stalls, inflatables, a bouncy castle, tattooist, spinning, boxercise and five-a-side football.
Local acts including Heather Bebb, Billy Spencer, Dai Robs, Storm, Steve Edwards, Zeik Watkin Band, Misty Blue Trio, String The Marionettes, Will & Huw and Neil Saunders will be performing.
Tickets £12 in advance or £15 on the gate. They are available on 07759 055562, 07931 983147 or 07957 292811.
