A local couple marked 40 years of marriage by raising vital money to upgrade Wales Air Ambulance’s Welshpool chopper.

Geof and Kathleen Langford held a big charity lunch in the same marquee which had just 12 hours earlier hosted a celebration for their Ruby Anniversary on their Pool Quay farm.

Geof’s sister, Dorothy, is a volunteer for the Wales Air Ambulance, and explained: “We are all delighted with the amount raised and would like to thank everybody who came along and supported the event – people have been extremely generous, which is very heart warming.”

Tickets were sold at £20 for the lunch and a charity auction raised £3,500. The total sum handed over to the charity was £6,472.

Anna Evans, Corporate Manager Wales Air Ambulance, said: “A priority this year is to upgrade the Welshpool helicopter and this donation is a significant contribution towards the funding required.”
