Growing concern over missing woman

Created on 23/07/2013 @ 11:36

MyWelshpool readers are being asked to assist in the search for a 64-year-old local woman who went missing from her home yesterday morning, by reporting any possible sightings of her.

Petra Maria Herkes, who is originally from Holland and known to locals as the 'flower lady', is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s and left her home in Manafon at approximately 7am but has not returned since.

Local residents report large numbers of police and mountain rescue in the area as well as a helicopter overhead.

She is a regular walker so it was not unusual for her to leave at that time, but friends and family became concerned when she did not return after a few hours.

It is believed that Petra does become confused at times because of her disease. She is described as white, approx 5’6” tall, slim with long grey hair.

A police spokesperson said: “There was a possible sighting of her yesterday afternoon heading west on the A458 from Llanfair Caereinion. There are many country lanes, farms surrounded by open fields and woodlands in the area so we would ask that everyone keep an eye out. We are appealing for anyone in these areas to contact us immediately if there are any believed sightings of Petra, or you have any information which could help us locate her.”

You can contact police on 101.
