Created on 27/07/2013 @ 14:56

Two deer died after being struck by a vehicle on a main road near Welshpool on Friday.

One of the deer was killed outright while another had to be put down humanely. Police officers and firefighters were called to the A458 at Middletown just after 6am after a member of the public reported deer had strayed onto the road.

Some of the deer appeared to be injured and a vet was also called, according to the police.

Dyfed Powys Police spokeswoman Sian George said: “We were called just after 6am by the fire service who were attending an incident in which deer were on the road.

“A vet was also called and so was the RSPCA.”

A fire service spokeswoman said: “One of the deer was dead at the scene and another had to be put down.”
