A well-known local family has handed over £8,500 to charities following a fund raising lunch held the day after a wedding.
Dawn Pickstock, a friend of both Dorian Lloyd and Michelle Rowles, both aged 30, organised the charity lunch in their wedding marquee and catered for a two-course meal for 200 guests.
In addition, Dawn organised a raffle draw, an auction, heads and tails and sold the wedding flowers on the tables, to raise as much money as possible for her three chosen charities.
The Bone Cancer Centre Appeal at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust received £3,500 and the rest was shared between the Air Ambulance and Llanfechain School.
Dawn explained: “I saw two good, local charities and wanted to support them. We also decided to support Llanfechain School as the married couple, Dorian and Michelle have relations there and my daughter, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding, goes to school there.”
The money donated to the school will be used to purchase four iPads to update their computer technology.
