Tourism Gold for local guest house

A Mid Wales tourism chief has praised quality accommodation providers across the region for leading the way in this year’s Visit Wales Gold Award roll of honour.
Twenty of 48 Gold Award winners in the guest accommodation sector and six of the 16 winners in the hotels sector are located in Mid Wales, with Llanfihangel yng Ngwynfa, near Llanfyllin, from our area.
The award recognises outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and unfailing hospitality in the serviced accommodation sector in Wales.
Only the top two per cent of hotels and guest houses achieve the award. All businesses graded by Visit Wales were considered and those that achieved a sufficiently high quality score at their most recent grading assessment were selected for mystery shopper testing.
Anne Lloyd-Jones, chairman of Mid Wales Tourism (MWT), congratulated all the winners from Mid Wales.
“I am delighted to see that Mid Wales has again featured prominently in the awards, which demonstrates the increasingly high standards of hospitality and comfort now being offered to visitors,” she said.
“These Gold Award winners are the standard bearers for tourism in Mid Wales and have worked very hard to achieve this success. Considering the number of Gold Award winners in the other three regions of Wales, I think Mid Wales is leading the way.”
MWT has around 500 members covering all sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry in Powys, Ceredigion and Meirionnydd, who enjoy a wide range of benefits designed to support and boost their businesses.
