Criminal checks for Councillors

Created on 23/11/2010 @ 13:33

Welshpool’s Town Councillors are to go undergo criminal checks.
The much heralded Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks have been introduced to protect children and vulnerable adults and the town council, like many other organisations and companies in the area, will implement the checks.
Town Clerk Robert Robinson confirmed: “The CRB system for councillors as well as key staff is being put into place now. I can also confirm that the first aid course for staff has been arranged for January.”
Standard CRB checks show current and spent convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings held on the Police National Computer.
