Jobs created as firm expands

A firm operating across the world has announced ambitious expansion plans at its UK headquarters in Welshpool with the promise of new jobs.

Dynacast has begun work on a 530m2 extension at its facility where it will create seven new jobs as a result of the expansion.

The global specialist in precision engineering, die casting and metal injection moulding has been working with Mid Wales architectural and property design practice Hughes Architects who have undertaken the design and planning aspects of the extension at the Offa’s Dyke Business Park.

Dynacast works with customers throughout the world turning ideas into high quality precision engineered components. It employs 85 people at Welshpool and has facilities throughout the US, Europe and Asia. 

Its customers come from virtually any industry-consumer sector, from electronics to automotive and healthcare.

Mike Brettell, of Dynacast, said the company had been based in Welshpool for 22 years and needed to expand its manufacturing facility to meet increased demand from customers.

“As a leader in specialty die casting and metal injection moulding we are constantly developing new products with our customers and there has been a marked growth in demand,” he said.

“We needed to add more space to support this growth. By working with Hughes Architects, we’re achieving this through the new extension.

Richard Lewis, an architect with Hughes Architects who are based at Welshpool, Newtown and Aberystwyth, said: “It’s great to work with such a global business and we’re pleased to be helping them with their growth plans through the design of the new extension that will lead to new employment and investment in Mid Wales.”

The project will be completed by March 2016 before fit-out of the facility begins.

Leighton-based construction company Walton Build was appointed to undertake the construction work following planning approval obtained by Hughes Architects.
