PRIME CATTLE
Two Limousin top heavy heifers forward weighing 532kg and 544kg making 256ppkg and 253ppkg respectively, from JM Rowlands, Dolwen.
OTMS (57)
An increased entry of 57 Otm cattle this week, achieving an overall average of 106.73ppkg. Top price in the section was for a Limousin cow weighing 750kg making £1140 (152ppkg) from CV & EM Lewis, Buttington New Hall. Otm bulls topped at £1220.94 (119ppkg) for a Charolais bull weighing 1026kg from EA & MP Rees, Dugwm Farm. A 675kg Welsh Black 32month old heifer from H Holloway, Church House, achiebed £945 (140ppkg). Steers under 48 months topped at £1063.72 (131ppkg) for a 42 month old 812kg Aberdeen Angus steer from E Birch, Red House Farm.

An entry of 4373 prime lambs selling to an average of 145.21ppkg.

Standards (827) to 159ppkg from D Owen, Esgairgyfela. Others to 158ppkg M W Bayliss, Coedybrain. Average of 140.97ppkg.
Mediums (1890) to 204ppkg from R A Jones, Red Gwenthrew. Others to 172ppkg from BE & BE Langford, Llettymeibion. Average of 147.06ppkg.
Heavies (1089) to 155ppkg from BE & BE Langford, Llettymeibion. Others to 154ppkg from DB Thomas, Blaen Parc. Average of 141.42ppkg.
Over Weights (263) to 143ppkg from Bowen & Bowen, Penthryn. Others to 142ppkg from T Williams & Sons, Ty mawr. Average of 127.68ppkg.
CULL SHEEP (2569)
A good show of cull sheep met with slightly improved averages of £48.94 for ewes and £79.61 for rams. Topping the ewes was D R Owen & Sons, Sandilands, with a pen of 4 ewes making £109. PJ Jones & Son, Dolgwenith, presented 2 ewes making £98.
STORE LAMBS
The prize sale of store lambs was kindly sponsored by Mr Alan Brick of H J Lea Oakes (07974 140176) with a pleasing entry of 860 lambs being received and selling to an overall average of £47.21.
The judging was undertaken by Messrs Andrews, Bronheulog who awarded 1st prize to J & R Davies, Old Hall for a pen of Lleyn wether lambs. The judge backed his judgement with the pen realising £62. Other pens from this home sold to £59, £58.50, £55, £54 and £50.50.
Taking second place honours was J P Jones, Maesyronen for a pen of 20 Charollais x mixed/clean lambs realising £59.50 with third place being awarded to D N & D W Jones, Plasnewydd for a pen of 20 Texel x mixed/clean lambs selling to £56.

BREEDING EWES
An entry of 1,133 breeding sheep running through the ring this week with a much increased entry of breeding ewe lambs reflecting the time of year. An entry of 120 strong Texel x breeding ewe lambs from W R L Price & Co, Pencwm sold to a top of £90. Texel x ewe lambs from S Richards & Son, Gwern y Pwll sold to £79 while Mule ewe lambs from E L & K Wozencraft, Pen yr Ochr sold to £74.
Breeding ewes to commence from 11am next week through Ring 4.
COWS & CALVES
An entry of 81 cows and calves from R Owen, Pencraigwen farm, Llanerchymedd, Anglesey, and his son R W Owen, Geirn, Anglesey, met with a solid trade from start to finish. Being mainly Limousin x and British Blue x 1st calvers with Limousin calves at foot and with the majority being back in calf to Limousin bulls. A tremendous average of £2013 was achieved. Leading the way from the Pencraigwen Farm, was a Limousin x 1st calver with a Limousin bull calf at foot, back in calf which sold to 32500. Whilst from the Geirn Farm, two Limousin x cows with Limousin bull calves , Pd 3 months in-calf and 1 month in-calf sold for £2700 and £2820 respet, back in calf which sold to 32500. Whilst from the Geirn Farm, two Limousin x cows with Limousin bull calves , Pd 3 months in-calf and 1 month in-calf sold for £2700 and £2820 respectively.
All prices achieved were as follows: £2500 + 7 lots, £2200 - £2500 13 lots, £2000 - £2200 25 lots, £1800 - £2000 23 lots, £1500 - £1800 11 lots, <£1500 4 lots.
DAIRY COWS
Another solid trade in the dairy section saw the following prices achieved. £1580 for a Gron-Joman sired heifer from T G Phillips & Co, Burgedin, whilst a Woodmarsh Melton heifer from the same home sold at £1400. Alan Morris, Maestanyglwyden, sold a Topshot heifer for £1430, whilst another topshot heifer from K S Jones & Sons, Lane Farm, made £1350. A 2nd claver from W K Watkin, Wheatsheaf, sold for £1020.
