Man arrested following early hours crash

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs following a town centre crash in the early hours.

Jehu Road was closed to allow Powys County Council staff to fix a lamp post following the accident at around 1.30am, with a reader capturing this picture of the aftermath at first light and adding that the driver appeared to be unhurt after the collision.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed that a member of the public had seen the accident and called the police: “The caller reported a driver had collided with a lamppost. A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
