Second huge cannabis farm found in Welshpool town centre
It comes just 24 hours after the first major farm was discovered in the empty building of the former HSBC bank in The Cross.
While details are a bit thin on the ground, unofficial sources are saying that the finds’ value runs into the hundreds of thousands of pounds.
“Dyfed-Powys Police proactive drugs team executed a warrant at a property on Broad Street, Welshpool, on Tuesday, January 9,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “A large amount of cannabis was located at the address. A man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.”
Scottish Power engineers are still on the site of Monday's first drugs raid and a large hole has been dug outside the site of the second raid, with speculation mounting that a professional operation was accessing power sources illegally.
Police have maintained a visible presence in the town centre throughout the day.
