A local pre-school has received a glowing Estyn report in its latest inspection.

Owlets Pre School, based at Carreghofa Primary School in Llanymynech, received excellent/good in all areas, receiving excellent for well-being and care and development.

In the Estyn report, which visited the school in October, it said that the children’s well-being was ‘excellent’ commenting that “nearly all children are exceptionally happy, settled and relaxed, and they benefit from practitioners who know them very well”.

The report also mentioned that care and development was ‘excellent’ because “practitioners’ interactions with children are outstanding. They speak respectfully with children and show exceptional interest, pleasure, and care in all that they do”.

Other achievements included good teaching and learning, offering a wide range of rich play opportunities based on the principles of Curriculum for Wales; a welcoming environment that provides a range of opportunities for children to play, learn and move freely between indoor and outdoor areas and good leadership, which has trusted relationship with parents.

Libby Williams, pre-school leader, said “We are delighted with the report, our vision for the setting is ‘Happy and Caring Together’ and this has been recognised by the inspectors!”

Responsible Individual for Owlets and Headteacher of Carreghofa School, Claire Pritchard, said: “Owlets offer a great start to any child’s educational journey. I am pleased that this was recognised in their most recent inspection.”

Owlets pre-school offers 10 free educational hours after a child’s third birthday with further childcare hours available.
