Guilsfield crime clampdown meeting with police

25/01/2024 @ 12:12

A recent act of vandalism that will cost tax payers up to £1,000 to fix was the last straw for fed up councillors and residents in Guilsfield.

The village has noticed a rise in needless damage and anti-social behaviour over the past 12 months, so residents are invited to meet with the police at an open meeting on Monday afternoon.

“There’s been a growing trend in the level of vandalism in our community since the summer, so the rural police team has responded by offering to meet residents next week,” said Cllr Ian Harrison, the Chair of Guilsfield Community Council.

“Officers will be available to discuss these concerns and hopefully we can bring an end to it.”

Earlier this month, youngsters were spotted smashing one of Powys County Council’s electronic bus information signs (pictured), which will cost up to £1,000 to replace.

Cllr Harrison is inviting anyone with concerns to meet the officers in front of the church on Monday at 1pm.
