“Horrific” dog attack close to Guilsfield Church

Police are appealing for information after a savage dog attack was reported close to the centre of Guilsfield, resulting in a young ram being put to sleep.

The Powys Rural Crime Team haven't said exactly where it happened in the village, but said they are investigating “an horrific livestock worrying incident” which took place on private farm land that borders the village, and just a few hundred metres from the church.

“The incident took place between the evening of Friday (February 9) and the following morning,” a police spokesperson said.

“Unfortunately, a young ram sheep was found with severe facial wounds, resulting in him having to be euthanised. Dog paw prints were also found at the scene.

“We also request that dog owners and walkers keep their dogs under adequate close control, preferably upon a lead when in areas where livestock are present.”
