Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that armed officers arrested a man in Oldford Rise on Monday who is suspected of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Concerned readers contacted us on Monday lunch time after witnessing a big police presence in the area, and this evening Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed what was happening, and are reassuring residents.
Superintendent Andrew Edwards said: “Dyfed-Powys Police officers have executed a warrant at a property in Oldford Rise, Welshpool, and I can confirm that one man has been arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm.
“We are acutely aware that incidents of this nature can be unsettling for communities and our Neighbouring Policing Teams will be visible within the local area and engaging with the community to alleviate any concerns.”
