Several bin bags and three cones later…

If you were walking near the canal on Saturday you may have seen a fleet of canoes out on the water.

And all can be revealed with the Welshpool Canoe Club confirming they had held a litter pick for members to tidy up a stretch of the canal from the Welshpool Canal Wharf up to the bridge by The Flash.

“It was a very rewarding but cold and wet litter pick paddle,” a spokesperson told us. “Several bin bags were filled and three cones were fished out of the canal.”

Their effort has drawn praise from the Welshpool Town Mayor, with Cllr Nick Howells saying: “Well done Welshpool Canoe Club on another great example of community spirit.”
