Phil is all set to prove he is not too fat to run!

The former head teacher of Llanfair Caereinion’s high school is all set to launch his mighty running challenge tomorrow (Monday) and prove that he is definitely not “too fat to run”.

Phil Jones has brought the area together behind his bid to complete seven 10km runs in seven days, finishing with next Sunday’s Welshpool 10k.

He is expecting to raise thousands of pounds for Parkinson’s UK, a disease that eventually took his father last year, but not before he infamously told his son: “you’re too fat to run!”.

Phil will begin his first 10k at 9.30am tomorrow from the Morrison’s Car Park, with MyWelshpool co-founder David Williams among the runners keeping him company on his first run.

“Just turn up with a smile, donate and enjoy,” said Phil, with an open invitation for anyone to join him on any of his runs.

Schools and local businesses have shown their support with hundreds of people of all ages expected to take part in some shape or form over the coming week.

Phil’s week of 10ks!
