40s fundraiser on foot

The team behind putting on one of the big weekends of the year is continuing with its fundraising to put on another memorable event in September.

The Welshpool 1940s weekend brings hundreds of visitors into the town, but it costs over £20,000 to put on so the team is holding a sponsored walk this Sunday.

The stroll to Powis Castle and back will depart from Park Lane gates at 5pm, with sponsor forms available at Riffels music and craft shop opposite the Town Hall or people can just turn up on the day and make a donation to walk. Families are welcome with light refreshments available afterwards at Riffels.

Next Tuesday, a Cash Bingo will be held in the Corn Exchange with eyes down at 7pm, and guitar/vocalist Mal Coote will be the guest entertainer at the Church House on Saturday, May 25.

The 2024 1940s Weekend will take place from September 27-29.
