Town Hall to light up in red for Wales match

Following Saturday’s disastrous start to the Euros 2025 for the Welsh women’s football team, Welshpool is encouraging the area to get behind Cymru ahead of their crucial second match on Wednesday night.

Cymru face France in St Gallen, Switzerland, knowing that defeat will all but end the team’s first visit to a major Finals.

France beat reigning champions England, 2-1, in their opening game on the same night that Wales lost 3-0 to The Netherlands.

There had been some frustration shown by local fans that Welshpool hadn’t done much to galvanise support, especially considering that the Town Hall was used to show the men’s games during the World Cup in Qatar.

But a spokesperson at the Town Council has told us that the Town Hall was lit up in red last Saturday night, and the same will happen tomorrow night when Cymru try to upset the giants of European football to keep their adventure alive.
