Moors Straight just outside Welshpool remains closed this morning after a car struck a house last night, according to Mid and West Wales Fire & Rescue Service.

Details have been released explaining what happened, with the road still closed to allow structural engineers to carry out a survey on the house. There are no reports of casualities.

“At 8.02pm on Tuesday, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Welshpool Fire Station was called to an incident along A483 in Welshpool,” a spokesperson told us.

“The crew responded to a road traffic collision involving one private motor vehicle in collision with a three-storey domestic property. The property’s occupants were evacuated and the A483 was closed while the incident was ongoing.

“Crew members utilised one environmental pack, one hose reel jet, small gear and lighting at the scene.  The crew left the scene at 11.17pm.

“This incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police and the Ambulance Service also in attendance.”

Vehicles have been diverted through Guilsfield, creating chaos with traffic lights in operation in the heart of the village due to road works. It resulted in huge delays with the school bus service running over an hour late.
