Following the successful graduation of their latest cohort earlier this month, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is now recruiting the next generation of Fire Cadets at Newtown Fire Station.
The recruitment drive comes just days after a Pass Out Parade was held at Newtown Fire Station on Monday, 14th July to celebrate the achievements of the latest group of Fire Cadets.
The ceremony highlighted the transformative impact of the programme, with family members, local dignitaries, and community members gathering to witness the cadets' achievements in areas such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and practical drills.
The Fire Cadets programme offers young people aged 13 to 16 an exceptional opportunity to develop valuable skills and gain unique insights into the Fire and Rescue Service. Participants learn important life skills designed to inspire positive choices for their future whilst building confidence and gaining hands-on experience with emergency services.
Over the course of the last two years, the recent graduates learnt a wide range of valuable skills and techniques through Fire Station ground training and education in the classroom. The dedication shown by these young people was recognised when they received their Fire Cadets qualification and achievement certificates from Deputy Chief Fire Officer Iwan Cray.
The graduation ceremony was attended by notable local figures including the Mayor of Newtown, Peter Lewington and members of MAWWFRS Fire Authority Councillor Gwyn Evans and Councillor Elwyn Vaughan, demonstrating the strong community support for the programme.
For those considering joining, the Fire Cadets programme represents more than just learning about firefighting. It provides a comprehensive development experience that builds character, teaches responsibility, and offers insights into potential career paths within the emergency services.
Parents and young people interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity are encouraged to visit the Fire Cadets section of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service website, where full details about the application process and programme requirements are available.
With spaces limited and the programme's proven track record of success, early application is advised for those ready to take on this rewarding challenge.
