The Wales Artists’ Book Fair will return to Newtown for its third year this September, bringing artists and small publishers from across Wales and beyond to showcase their work.
The two-day event will be held at Hafan yr Afon on the weekend of September 6-7, running alongside the popular Newtown Food Festival in the town centre.
Organiser Amy Sterly said the fair would highlight the wide variety of work being created by artists in Wales and the border regions, while also giving visitors the chance to learn more about the artform.
“Artists’ books take many different forms, from hand-crafted paper and fabric works to stitched, printed and sculptural creations. The fair is an opportunity not only to see and buy work, but to get involved in workshops and demonstrations that show the possibilities of book art,” she said.
Hafan yr Afon, located on the banks of the River Severn next to the Oriel Davies Gallery, will host exhibitors across its upper floor. The venue has full disability access and family-friendly facilities, with views over the park and river. Workshops linked to the fair will also take place at Oriel Davies.
This year’s exhibitors include 51 Personae, Marches Book Arts Group, Kelpie Press, Rock-Tree-Landscape, Wits End Books, Wild Bird of the Ink, Wrexham School of Art and Zine Library, and many more.
The event coinciding with the Newtown Food Festival means visitors can experience both cultural and culinary attractions during the weekend.
The fair is open to the public and entry is free.
