Six people were rescued from rising flood waters after becoming stranded in two cars near Welshpool on Saturday night.

Rescue teams from Welshpool and Llanfair Caereinion fire stations were called to the rising waters near the Raven Roundabout at around 8.34pm on Saturday evening.

Two private motor vehicles were stuck in floodwater with four people rescued from one and two from the other by firefighters using a wading sled, wading equipment and specialist lighting.

The casualties were taken to safety while waiting to be collected.

“The incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police and the local authority also in attendance,” a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue told us. “The road was closed following the incident and crews left the scene at 9.58pm.”
