Tractor run raises a grand!

The Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) Montgomeryshire has celebrated a successful Tractor Run, which took place on Sunday, raising over £1,000 to be shared between Prostate Cymru and the local FUW branch.

More than 20 tractors and many 4x4 vehicles took part in the event, setting off from Llwynybrain, Adfa, for a scenic route through Montgomeryshire’s countryside before returning for a barbecue, kindly hosted by the Yeomans family.

The event brought together farmers, tractor enthusiasts, and supporters from across the county, raising vital funds to support Prostate Cymru’s work in awareness, research, and support services for men and families affected by prostate cancer.

FUW Montgomeryshire Chair Wyn Williams said the event was a great success and reflected the strong sense of community spirit in the area.

“We’re delighted with the turnout and generosity shown by everyone who took part. Seeing all the tractors and 4x4s lined up was a wonderful sight, and raising funds for such important causes is something the whole community can be proud of.

“Events like this highlight the best of rural Montgomeryshire – people coming together to enjoy a great day out and to support others. We’re very grateful to everyone who helped make the day possible - in particular the Yeomans family for hosting us, and to Jonathan Rees of Graig Farm Organics and Nerys Astley for the catering."

Host, John Yeomans added: “On behalf of Montgomeryshire FUW I would like to thank everyone who came along to our first, of what we hope will be an annual tractor run.

As our chair Wyn Williams said as he closed the event, it is always good for us to get together and have a chat about the ups and downs of our jobs and lives. Raising a substantial amount for charity, particularly Prostate Cymru makes this all the better.”
