Community groups encouraged to attend Funding Fair

21/10/2025 @ 02:30

Community organisations and charities from across Montgomeryshire are invited to attend a Funding Fair this Friday from 11am-1pm in the Concert Room at The Monty Club, Newtown.

The free drop-in event will bring together key funding bodies to offer advice and information on securing grants for capital, project and revenue plans.

The event, organised by Russell George MS, is aimed at voluntary sector organisations, charitable associations, and community groups seeking funding support to help make their projects a reality.

Visitors will have the chance to discuss their specific funding needs directly with representatives from grant-making bodies. Whether groups are seeking support for capital projects such as building improvements or equipment purchases, funding for new initiatives and community programmes, or revenue funding to help sustain existing services, experts will be on hand to provide guidance, outline eligibility criteria, and share tips on making strong applications.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from confirmed organisations including:

  • Welsh Parliament
  • National Lottery Community Fund
  • National Lottery Heritage Fund
  • Sport Wales (Lottery)
  • Arts Council of Wales (Lottery)
  • Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA)
  • Hafren Dyfrdwy Community Fund
  • Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO)
  • Powys County Council Sports Development Department

In addition, the Senedd’s Research Guides and Grant Finder systems will be available, helping visitors to identify and be able to apply for relevant funding opportunities.

Mr George, MS for Montgomeryshire said: “This Funding Fair is a great opportunity for local charities and community groups to get face-to-face advice from major funding bodies.

“Many fantastic projects in Montgomeryshire struggle not for lack of ideas, but for lack of the right financial support at the right time. The event will help bridge that gap by connecting organisations directly with those who can help. I encourage anyone involved in a community or voluntary organisation to come along.
