A petition signed by thousands of concerned residents demanding a public enquiry following the confirmation that Wales Air Ambulance will close their Welshpool base, has forced the Welsh Government to hold a debate.
The charity has decided to close its Welshpool and Caernarfon bases in favour of a new base in North East Wales, citing that it will help them respond quicker to more incidents.
But dozens of Mid Wales communities will face longer response times, prompting a public outrage and, sadly, an unsuccessful bid to stop the decision.
But this morning, lead campaigner Cynthia Duce said that she had been contacted with the confirmation that a debate will be held on November 26.
“Let’s see what the outcome of this will be,” she said.
Residents will be able to follow the debate live next week through http://www.senedd.tv/.
No date has been given as to when Welshpool will close, but the move to an, as yet unnamed, new home in North East Wales is expected to start next year.
