Town Hall hire fees ‘re-structured’

26/11/2025 @ 10:03

Welshpool Town Council has updated its room hire fees for the historic Town Hall, with the new charges taking effect from January 1, 2026.

The local authority said that the revised structure follows a comprehensive review of running costs, maintenance requirements and the growing demand for flexible community spaces.

While some fees have been updated to reflect operational costs, several hire rates have been reduced to make community use more affordable, particularly for non-commercial groups.

Key changes include:

  • Simplified pricing, with charity and non-commercial rates combined for clarity and consistency.
  • Lower fees for non-commercial use of the Assembly Rooms, reducing from £25 + VAT to £20 per hour (minimum 2 hours).
  • Revised rates for the Judges Retirement Room and Corn Exchange, offering clear commercial and non-commercial options.
  • Structured Courtroom hire fees now applied for both commercial and non-commercial users.
  • Introduction of new wedding and wake packages, including ceremony-only options, standard wedding packages with kitchen and bar access, and exclusive-use wedding or wake arrangements.

All other Council fees - including market stall charges, allotment rents, public toilet access and Meals on Wheels prices - remain unchanged.
