Welshpool Town Council is willing to pay £1,200 to ensure a marching band can be immediately booked to lead next year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade.
This year’s back-to-basics parade, which was planned in co-ordination with various interested parties including the veterans, has been praised, prompting the Town Council to pursue a marching band next year to mark a return to tradition.
But it comes at a cost and the Town Council’s full committee voted last night to move quickly and book the band for next year.
Cllr Alison Davies said: “I think the town would appreciate it as they were very disappointed when we were unable to have a band, and I think the people of Welshpool want a band.”
It was passed with a unanimous vote.
