One local primary school was so pleased with its Estyn inspection report, it made a brilliant Instagram video to tell the world.
School inspectors spent three days at Llandysilio Primary School back in November, their first visit since 2017, and handed a glowing report to Governors last week, prompting the heart-warming video made by the children.
“It was an intense and rigorous experience, yet the team of four inspectors approached their work with professionalism and compassion, quickly appreciating the unique context and challenges of our school,” said Acting Headteacher for the 55-pupil school, Rich Andrews, who was praised in the report for “working swiftly with staff and governors to establish clear processes for understanding what the school does well and what needs to improve”.
“In a short time, this has helped them make purposeful changes to important aspects of the school’s work,” the report states. “Leaders now promote a clear vision that raises pupils’ aspirations and strengthens their sense of belonging to the school community.”
“We are extremely proud,” said Mr Andrews. “While it includes recommendations for further improvement, these align with the priorities we had already identified through our own self-evaluation. It is a powerful affirmation of who we are: small, but mighty!
“This report marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our journey.
“I would like to express heartfelt thanks to: our dedicated staff, whose daily commitment shines through every word of the report; The Governing Body and our families, for their unwavering support and constructive challenge; Our Friends of Llandysilio School, for their tireless fundraising and enthusiasm; And most importantly, our children, whose pride, passion, and values blew away the Estyn team throughout the inspection.”
The video features the children talking about their school and culminates with one of the youngsters proclaiming: “We’re just getting started!”
