The Welshpool Hub is proving more popular than ever and set a new attendance record last week.
The initiative runs twice a week through winter at the Town Hall, and is open to anyone wanting to enjoy a warm space, company and hot food and drink for a donation.
It is being driven by former mayor Cllr Nick Howells, who declared at last night's Operations & Development Committee: “Last week we broke the record (for attendance). Last Thursday, we had 90-plus visitors.”
To which the committee chair, Cllr Phil Pritchard, responded: “That is a tremendous result!”
The Welshpool Hub was created during the energy price crisis four years ago, but has developed into a valuable resource since, with the Town Council responsible for overseeing it.
