BigRig’s biggest record-breaking challenge yet!

26/02/2026 @ 09:38

Welshpool boxer-turned-hyrox champion Warren ‘BigRig’ Sinden is taking on a simply unbelievable fundraising challenge this Saturday that could see him become a record breaker!

As part of the Parkinson’s 10x10k challenge which gets underway tomorrow night (Friday) with a Gala Dinner in the Royal Oak, Warren is taking on a 100km SkiErg marathon, a distance he has never completed before, with a bid to break the British record of 6hrs 57mins 34secs.

Warren is no stranger to pushing his body and mind to the absolute limits, but even he says this one is taking him into unknown territory, and he hopes for Welshpool to turn out and support him through.

“I’m not as ready as I’d like to feel!” Warren admitted. “But I’ve got my heart set on beating the current British record.

“I’ve had to work around some sore elbows which are a legacy from my boxing days. My longest stint to date is 60k where I managed to hold 2:01/500m pace for 4hrs 2mins. The British record is at a pace of 2:05.

“I’ve had a few different races and events on the past few weeks where I decided to step back from the ski to make sure I was ready for them. But I have upped the sessions on the ski again, and elbows are feeling OK.

“Truthfully, I won’t be surprised if I don’t finish. I was very happy with my 60km but I wanted to tick off a 75k before the date and I’ve not managed to do that.

“This will be more a mental battle than anything, physically the hardest thing is keeping fuelled and hydrated. If cramp sets in, which it has on some big sessions, it’s all over.

“But It would mean the world to me to set a new British record. I’ve not stopped thinking about it for months. I believe I can but I also know I might not. I know it’s going to be pretty disgusting in the last quarter or so!”

Warren will be tackling the challenge at his Rigorous Gym in The Quarry and has a second SkiErg machine set up for people to have a go.

All money raised from the challenge will go towards the Parkinsons 10x10k which is encouraging local people to run, walk, cycle, row or SkiErg one, or all, of the 10k events being held in the Welshpool area between March 8-22.
