27/03/2026 @ 08:59

An event will be held at the Town Hall’s Corn Exchange tomorrow (Saturday) to celebrate Railway 200, marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of railways in the UK.

The ‘Railway Show’ will take place from 11am-3pm, and there will be static photograph displays, slideshows, video film footage and model railway layouts including the Spirit of Welshpool layout depicting when the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway passed through the town centre.

Admission is by donation (minimum of £1) with tea, coffee and cakes available plus a raffle.

The event has been organised by the Welshpool 1940s Weekend committee to raise funds towards this year’s event, and is supported by the Cambrian Railways Partnership and Transport For Wales.
