Welshpool adopts flower beds, but who will maintain them?

Welshpool Town Council is inviting local community groups, businesses and volunteers to play a hands-on role in enhancing the town centre by helping to care for two prominent flower beds.

Subject to final arrangements and legal transfer from Powys County Council, the Town Council is seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to take on the planting and ongoing maintenance of the flower beds located opposite the NFU and Rowlands Pharmacy.

This initiative forms part of a wider effort to improve the appearance of Welshpool while encouraging greater community involvement and pride in local spaces.

Town Clerk Richard Williams said: “We know how much pride people in Welshpool take in their town, and this is a great opportunity for local groups to get involved in a visible and positive way.

“Even small improvements can make a big difference to how our town looks and feels.”

The Town Council is developing a simple licence agreement to support groups, ensuring arrangements are clear, safe, and easy to manage.

Expressions of interest are to be sent to town.clerk@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk by May 17 and must include a brief outline of your group and how you would like to contribute.
