The Welshpool Poetry Festival will not be taking place this year, with the lead organisers instead organising a number of special days featuring renowned poets.
The festival was a welcome addition to the town’s events calendar for a decade, but Pat Edwards has confirmed that due to the challenge of finding annual funding, she has instead introduced a new model for the town.
Three poetry Sundays have been planned for June 14, July 12 and August 9 featuring Casey Bailey, Rosie Garland and Jonathan Edwards (pictured) respectively.
“I’ve got three Sundays booked at the amazing Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture in Berriew,” said Pat.
“Each event has a guest poet who will do a two-hour workshop, then we’ll stop for a buffet lunch provided by the Lychgate Cafe, before a reading and Q&A with our poet.
“Each day is 11am-3pm and is just £35 all in, so great value!
“They’re a real opportunity to mingle with the poets in a quirky, beautiful place. Tickets are limited to just 15 per session so as to ensure a quality experience.”
