“It was quite a bang!”

Readers have been sharing their experiences this afternoon after a Welshpool-bound train hit a tree branch and smashed a window.

One told us “it was quite a bang” when the incident happened close to Rowton Castle.

The train limped its way to Welshpool station where it was inspected and there was some disruption to services this afternoon and into the evening.

Another passenger, Lee Booth, who took the picture, said: “It could have been a lot worse. The train hit a large branch I believe and it caused about a half hour delay.”

There has been no word from Transport for Wales, but trains appeared to be running this evening, albeit behind schedule.
