Traffic lights work knocks out town centre power
Long-awaited work has begun on fixing the traffic lights at the Cross, but shortly after noon a number of businesses in the town centre found themselves left in the dark.
Some have closed, and Rowlands Pharmacy said they will do “everything we can to assist you, but there may be delays while we wait for power to be restored”.
Frustrated businesses owners were seen gathered outsides their premises as they awaited an update from the developers.
The traffic lights were knocked out by an explosion and underground fire back in January, and delays in getting them fixed have been down to a specific part in short supply.
Work is expected to continue for the next two weeks, with one lane closed on Church Street.
