Ysgol Llanfyllin celebrates A-Level success

Ysgol Llanfyllin said it is “delighted” with the achievements of its Year 12 and Year 13 students following the publication of this year’s A Level, AS Level and vocational qualification results.

The all-age school said that students are now progressing to an “exciting range of destinations”, including universities, apprenticeships, further training and employment.

They will pursue opportunities across a wide variety of disciplines and specialisms, including the arts, literature and languages, humanities, mathematics, science, engineering, construction and technology, sport, medicine, healthcare and public services.

The following Year 13 students achieved all A*-A grades or equivalent:

Carys Blowers

Ffion Davies

Max Dean

Bethan Docherty

Manon Ellis-Jones

Soffia Jones

Dylan Marsden-Mosebury

Charlie Owen

Annabel Quance

Owen Roberts

Glesni Woodman

Sion Woodman

They added that there were “exceptional performances” from Year 12 students Chris Benson, Maisie Robbins and Gruff Thomas.

Dewi Owen, Headteacher of Ysgol Llanfyllin, said: “These results demonstrate the enormous value of maintaining strong sixth-form provision in Powys. They also reflect the strength of our collaborative work with our Trisgol partner schools, which enables young people across North Powys to access a broad curriculum and achieve success while continuing their education within their own communities.

“The whole Ysgol Llanfyllin Teulu is immensely proud of every student receiving results today. Behind each set of results is an individual story of hard work, perseverance and personal growth. We congratulate all our learners and wish them every success and happiness as they begin the next stage of their lives.”

And look where some are heading with 97securing places at their first-choice university.

There has also been significant success in gaining places at Russell Group universities, with a number of students achieving outstanding grades and securing places on highly competitive courses.

  • Carys Blowers – 4 As – Sport and Exercise Science, University of Nottingham
  • Bethan Docherty- 1A* 3As, Psychology, University of York
  • Emmy Nazar- AAAB, History of Art, University of Birmingham, 
  • Isla Boyd-AABB. Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging, Cardiff University
  • Eleanor DalmerA*ABB, Psychology, University of Liverpool
