The lights are finally back… eight months later!

It’s taken eight months, but Welshpool finally has some functioning traffic lights back in the town centre!

Rush hour readers tell us that traffic is now flowing through the new lights on The Cross which have finally been installed after a ridiculous wait.

The lights have been out of action since January when an electrical box exploded causing an underground fire that damaged the lights infrastructure.

Temporary lights were put in place but the town was told to wait until a specific part could be sourced to finish the job.

But often the temporary lights were not working and this past Sunday even saw two young children directing traffic to help when they were stuck on red. 

Welshpool Town Council also voiced its frustration several times, but the wait appears to be finally over this morning with traffic flowing in all directions.
